The Cincinnati Bengals are approaching the NFL trade deadline on November 5, sitting just outside the playoff picture. With three games remaining before the deadline, they’ll need to decide whether to buy, sell, or stand pat for the rest of the season.

In a competitive AFC North, where they’ve won three of their last four games, the Bengals could capitalize on a favorable schedule to strengthen their position. One way to do this would be to acquire a star edge rusher from a divisional opponent expected to become sellers at the deadline.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay has suggested a blockbuster trade in which the Bengals would send five draft picks to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for Myles Garrett. The proposal includes two first-round picks (2025, 2026), two third-round picks (2025, 2026), and a fourth-round pick (2026).

 

Kay argues that adding Garrett would instantly boost Cincinnati’s defense, which has struggled against top-tier teams. If Bengals management believes a significant addition can help reverse their early-season setbacks and spark a deep playoff push, the high price might be justified for prying Garrett away from an AFC North rival.

While a trade within the division is unlikely, the Browns might be compelled to consider it, especially given the challenges of building around Deshaun Watson’s large contract. Adding Garrett would be a significant upgrade on the defensive line alongside Trey Hendrickson, who has been performing exceptionally well. Though trading future picks is a bold strategy—especially with players like Ja’Marr Chase still due for a new contract—it could be Cincinnati’s best chance to make a serious run.
