After sprinting to a 5-0 lead, JUDD TRUMP was forced to battle for his spot in the Cazoo Champion of Champions final on Sunday.

With just one more frame to go in the best-of-11 semifinal, Barry Hawkins, who had won three straight, stopped Trump.

But the Hawk could not sustain the comeback, and Trump finished the next to end the match 6-3.

With one more victory, Trump will secure his second Champion of Champions title and the £150,000 prize for this year. The victor of Saturday’s semi-final between Mark Allen and John Higgins will square up against him.

Trump remarked, “To get over the line, I had to remain patient.” After the break, I started to feel a little nervous, but it was crucial that I keep my head up.

Even though things can get difficult at times, you must keep in mind that you are still the favorite if you have a two or three frame advantage. You take each frame as it comes and forget about the ones that came before.

The format, the dress code, and everything else about this event play into my strengths, and I feel comfortable and at ease with it. That seems to bring out the best in me.

Trump’s fifth final of the season is set for this Sunday, and we’ve barely reached the halfway mark. Additionally, it will be his third Champion of Champions final in a row.

At the beginning of the game, safety came first, and it took almost twenty minutes for Trump to pot the first red and color combination. The winner of the frame was then decided by who was able to take advantage of his opponent’s errors, and Trump won on the black.

With a break of 69 in the second frame, the World No. 2 prevailed, and with a break of 71 in the third, he improved slightly.

Because of his poor safety play, Hawkins was behind 4-0 at the half.

We’ve hardly made it halfway through the season, and this Sunday is Trump’s fifth final. It will also be his third consecutive Champion of Champions final.
