Good News: New Orleans Saints Bolster Defense with the Signing of Two Talented Cornerbacks….

The New Orleans Saints have made a strategic move by signing cornerback Kaleb Ford-Dement and waiving fullback Zander Horvath. Ford-Dement’s journey to the NFL has been marked by perseverance and adaptability, showcasing his talent across multiple college programs before landing this opportunity with the Saints.

Kaleb Ford-Dement began his college football career at Kilgore College, where he played from 2017 to 2018. After proving his potential at the junior college level, he transferred to Old Dominion, playing for the Monarchs during the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Seeking further development, Ford-Dement moved on to Washington State, where he continued to refine his skills as a cornerback from 2021 to 2022. His college career culminated at Texas State in 2023, where he had a standout season.

At Texas State, the 5-foot-11, 178-pound Ford-Dement played in 13 games, starting in 11 of them. He finished the season with an impressive stat line, recording 32 tackles, including 21 solo tackles, one sack, and three stops for loss. Additionally, he showcased his playmaking abilities by intercepting three passes and breaking up seven more. His performance caught the attention of NFL scouts, ultimately leading to his signing with the New Orleans Saints.

Before joining the Saints, Ford-Dement spent the 2024 offseason with the New England Patriots. While he didn’t make the final roster in New England, the experience likely contributed to his growth and readiness for this next chapter with the Saints. Ford-Dement’s signing comes as part of the team’s ongoing efforts to strengthen their defensive backfield, adding depth and potential to the roster.

In contrast, the Saints decided to waive fullback Zander Horvath, a move that reflects the team’s evolving roster needs as they prepare for the upcoming season. As the season approaches, Ford-Dement will have the chance to prove himself and earn a spot on the Saints’ final roster.
