She handed over the reins of her privacy to filmmaker Karen O’Connor for the documentary *Joan Baez: I Am a Noise*, and once committed, she couldn’t retract her decision. “After watching the documentary about ten times, I realized I was still guarding myself. One day, I sat down with popcorn and truly watched it. It was devastating, but now I feel at peace.”
