Dan Gosling was approached by Nottingham Forest in 2021, but he turned down their advances and is currently with Notts County.
In the midst of a relegation dogfight in 2020–21, Chris Hughton, the manager of Forest, had Gosling on his radar as he attempted to rebuild his team.
When Forest wanted to sign the seasoned midfield player, he was plying his trade at Bournemouth, but he declined the offer.
Gosling has now committed to Notts County.
Gosling made the decision to sign with Watford even though Forest wanted him. The player turned down the advances because he wasn’t persuaded by the City Ground project.
It turned out to be a really dumb move. It’s absurd to think that Gosling turned down the opportunity to join Forest considering that he had previously played for Hughton.
It’s still unbelievable that he didn’t go to a club that would have played him frequently, even though the team wasn’t pulling up any trees at the time.
The player was recently signed by County, ending his protracted stint without a team. Having played for the Magpies on two occasions thus far, he is now eager to continue.
Gosling has to be kicking himself for not joining Forest.
How things might have turned out differently. When Gosling joined Forest, the only healthy midfielders who could have started were Samba Sow and Cafu.
If he had performed well upon arrival, the club could have signed him on a long-term basis, and the Reds would have been promoted to the Premier League the next season. For Gosling, the rest may have been history.
Rather, he did not play during the second part of the previous season and had to wait until November after his release before he was signed by a new team.
Gosling should be ashamed of himself for not signing up for Forest.
What could have happened if things had gone differently. The only fit midfielders who could have started for Forest when Gosling joined were Cafu and Samba Sow.
Had he performed well upon arriving, the Reds would have advanced to the Premier League the following season and the club would have been able to sign him on a long-term deal. The rest might have been history for Gosling.
Instead, he missed the second half of the previous season from action and was not able to sign with a new team until November following his release.

They self-reported the information they found to the Premier League, which has since launched an investigation into the club.
The Premier League has not responded to the report that was published in The Guardian on Wednesday as part of an investigation spearheaded by The Bureau of Investigative Journalism (TBIJ). However, it is probable that the league will now carefully review the material that has been reported. There have been rumors circulating that Chelsea might lose ground.
“These allegations predate the club’s current ownership,” a Chelsea spokesperson stated. They are not related to anyone who is currently at the club and are based on documents that the club has not been shown.

Chelsea has maintained the same position under their new owners: they will look into any claims of improper behavior made during the previous ownership as soon as they are made. Chelsea saw unheard-of success after Abramovich acquired the team in 2003 and invested millions of dollars. The team won five Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2012 and 2021.
