In a massive offseason shakeup, the Bills will deal standout wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Texans…..

The reigning AFC South champion Houston Texans aren’t going to sit back after rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud guided them to their first postseason appearance since 2019. Stefon Diggs, a four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, was acquired by the team on Wednesday after an agreement to trade was reached with the Buffalo Bills. A 2025 second-round pick, acquired from the Minnesota Vikings in a March trade, will go to the Bills. The Texans will also receive a sixth-round pick this year and a fifth-round pick the following year.

Two potential contenders changed their short- and long-term outlooks in a trade that is considered one of the biggest offseason transactions.

With his team’s victory over the Cleveland Browns in the wild-card round this season, quarterback Russell Wilson—the current NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year—became the youngest quarterback in history to win a postseason game. The Texans now have a go-to receiver in Stroud. The 30-year-old Diggs has over 1,000 yards in each of the previous six seasons in which he has at least 100 catches. With the return of top target Nico Collins and the rehabilitation of promising second-year pass catcher Tank Dell from a damaged fibula, the Texans have transformed their once highly doubtful receiving corps into one of the league’s most gifted units.

In the Texans’ offseason, which also saw the acquisition of running back Joe Mixon and the signing of four-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Danielle Hunter, Diggs is the most notable addition.

Meanwhile, Buffalo has undergone yet another major offseason shuffle with this move. Due to a wage cap constraint, the Bills parted ways with a number of important players this summer. Additionally, the arrival of Curtis Samuel and the departure of Gabe Davis transformed the receiving corps. But it seems like the Bills need a new top receiver to replace Josh Allen right now.

Diggs addressed doubts about his and the team’s future by telling ESPN he “can’t tell you what the future holds” in his first remarks following the Bills’ third straight exit from the playoffs in the divisional round. He responded, “You sure?” on social media on Tuesday to a user who argued that Allen’s success didn’t depend on the receiver.

After Diggs mishandled a long pass in the fourth quarter of the Bills’ season-ending 27-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Allen and Diggs’ relationship came under scrutiny once more. After Joe Brady succeeded Ken Dorsey as offensive coordinator in November, Diggs’ performance declined, and he finished the season with just three receptions for 21 yards.
