The Browns need to be proactive at running back.
Nick Chubb will be back for the start of the 2024 season, but at 28 and coming off an ACL tear, he is closer to the end of his Browns career than the start.
The 2024 running back draft class is not fantastic, but there are still gems to find in the middle rounds.
Florida State’s Trey Benson, Wisconsin’s Braelon Allen and Kentucky’s Ray Davis are all predicted to be third-round picks by B/R’s NFL scouting department.
Benson recorded back-to-back 900-yard seasons for the Seminoles, Allen had two 1,200-yard campaigns at Wisconsin and Davis was a 1,000-yard rusher at two different schools.
The Browns could add one of those players to the mix at running back to compete with Jerome Ford, D’Onta Foreman and Nyheim Hines for the backup job in training camp.
