There are not many unmet needs in the 2025 class as the Alabama Crimson Tide are experiencing a surge in recruiting success.
According to On3, the 2025 Alabama Crimson Tide class has 21 verbal commitments.Alabama has 20 pledges, according to 247Sports. The distinction is that On3 counts Steve Mboumoua, a former ’24 class commit. The 2024 junior college player is not on 247’s list of Alabama commits.
Behind Oregon, the Crimson Tide have the second-highest player average and rank second in the class based on the 247 Composite. The Ducks are at 94.53 and Alabama is at 94.16.With the No. 2 class, On3’s Crimson Tide lags behind Oregon and Ohio State in terms of average player rating.
According to On3, the Alabama Crimson Tide is tied with Ohio State for the most 5-star commits with four. Limiting a class to the Top 50 and Top 100 players is a better approach to gauge its potential influence. With seven pledges in the Top 50 (really in the Top 47) and three more in the Top 100, Alabama is in excellent shape.
What’s next for Alabama Crimson Tide recruiting?
Alabama does not have many holes to fill. One or possibly two defensive linemen are needed. Another safety should meet the needs of the secondary. Alabama would like to add a tight end and a linebacker. Filling those needs would take the class up to 25 commits. Alabama football insiders estimate the final class number to be no more than 26 or 27.
The priority targets for the Crimson Tide are linebacker, Ty Jackson and defensive lineman, Justus Terry. Jackson is a 4-star inside linebacker from Florida. Florida, FSU, and Georgia are heavily involved, but some recruiting insiders see Alabama as the leader. 5-Star, Terry is on every top team’s list of top recruits. Most projections have the Georgia Bulldogs way ahead of the pack, to land Terry.
What will happen in details impossible to predict are many flips between now and December. Alabama might lose a player or two. Often that means Alabama will land someone better. Crimson Tide running back commit, Anthony Rogers might be one to flip. Georgia, Ohio State, Florida, and Auburn are threats to flip Rogers. What Alabama cannot control is the 2024 running back roster has five guys who can all return for the 2025 season. AK Dear takes the number to six. Will Rogers be willing to become possibly a seventh Alabama running back next season?
It’s a long way to December. Recruiting is always a priority but something more pressing begins soon.
