Breaking News: Tennessee 4-star DB now commits to Georgia over Florida…

Georgia hosted the standout defensive recruit on his final official visit, and he committed to the Bulldogs on Monday.

Georgia is celebrating back-to-back good news, especially for Donte Williams. On Monday, 4-star safety Jaylan Morgan from Rockvale, Tennessee, announced his college choice, committing to Georgia over Florida, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss. The 6-foot, 180-pound defensive back made his decision after visiting Georgia during the final official visit weekend from June 21-23.

During his trip, Morgan informed the Georgia coaching staff of his intent to join the Bulldogs. “When I visited, it felt like home,” Morgan told Dawgs247, explaining how he connected with the coaches and felt comfortable around the players. “I realized those are the people I want to be with every day.”

Morgan spent most of his visit with player host Ondre Evans and worked closely with his lead recruiter Donte Williams and co-defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson. A detailed film session and a breakdown of the defensive roster gave Morgan clarity on his potential role in Athens.

Although Georgia hasn’t guaranteed him early playing time, Morgan sees a strong opportunity. “There’s a good chance I could play early, but I just want to play football, and Georgia seems like the best place to do that,” Morgan said.

Defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann compared Morgan’s playing style to Bulldogs’ standout Javon Bullard, with some similarities to Kamari Lassiter, highlighting his versatility. Morgan joins Georgia’s 2025 class, which also added 4-star cornerback Shamari Earls, who flipped from South Carolina, and defensive back Todd Robinson.

Morgan, ranked No. 28 safety in the 247Sports recruiting rankings and No. 7 player in Tennessee, can play multiple defensive back positions, including star, free safety, and strong safety. With his commitment, Georgia now has 19 recruits in the 2025 class and holds the No. 3 spot in team rankings, just behind Ohio State and Alabama.
