Breaking: Indiana Fever’s Makes Strong Statement on Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell ……

The Indiana Fever are gearing up for their first WNBA Playoffs appearance since 2016, having secured the sixth seed in the standings. With just one regular-season game remaining, the Fever are waiting to learn whether they’ll face the Connecticut Sun or the Las Vegas Aces in the first round. A key factor in Indiana’s successful season has been the exceptional play of their All-Star guards, Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell. Both players have elevated their performances, especially after the Olympic break.

On Wednesday, the Fever highlighted the scoring prowess of their dynamic backcourt on social media, reminding fans of their impressive achievements this season. “Only team in the WNBA to have two players in the top 8 in scoring this season: Kelsey Mitchell – 19.6 PPG. Caitlin Clark – 19.5 PPG,” the team posted on X, adding a smirking face emoji for emphasis.

Mitchell, averaging 19.6 points per game, ranks seventh in the WNBA, while Clark’s 19.5 points per game places her eighth overall. Clark also leads all rookies in scoring by a significant margin, with the next closest player, Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese, averaging 13.6 points per game.

Since returning from the WNBA’s month-long break, Mitchell has been on fire, scoring 20 or more points in every game except one, where she still managed 18 points. She also set a new Fever record for most points in a single season, tallying 763 on a career-best 46.7% shooting, surpassing her previous record of 728 points set in 2023.

The Fever’s final regular-season game is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, against the Washington Mystics. Their first-round playoff opponent will depend on the outcome of other games that day. If the Sun defeat the Sky, Indiana will face Connecticut in the playoffs. However, if the Sun lose and the Aces beat the Dallas Wings, the Fever will square off against the defending champions, the Las Vegas Aces.

With Clark and Mitchell leading the way, the Fever are poised to make a strong showing in the playoffs, aiming to build on their momentum from a standout regular season.
