Good News: The Minnesota Timberwolves have confirmed the signing of another experienced NBA All-Star.

Signing 10-year NBA veteran Joe Ingles, the Minnesota Timberwolves

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Minnesota Timberwolves have signed free agent forward Joe Ingles to a one-year contract worth $3.3 million. With this trade, Ingles and two other former Utah Jazz players are now teammates on the Timberwolves.

Tim Connelly, President of Basketball Operations for the Timberwolves, had to find a substitute for backup forward Kyle Anderson, who left for the Golden State Warriors. In order to keep the Timberwolves’ massive frontcourt presence, Anderson was an essential member of the rotation.

Joe Ingles’ Contribution to the Timberwolves

With the exception of two of his ten NBA seasons, Ingles has regularly shot 38% or better from three-point range, demonstrating his exceptional shooting ability. During the previous season while playing for the Orlando Magic, he made 43% of his three-point shots. With his 6’9″ height, Ingles provides positional size and backup playmaking, which will limit Minnesota’s lineups from being too big.

Ingles is well-liked for his leadership and good vibes in the locker room off the court. Former teammates have expressed great admiration for his capacity to foster growth in young athletes while preserving a positive environment.

Well-Known Faces

Alongside Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley, Ingles played for the Utah Jazz during his first eight NBA seasons. Together with Donovan Mitchell, the group qualified for the playoffs on a regular basis and advanced to the semifinals in the 2020–21 campaign. After the 2021–2022 season, Ingles’ time with the Jazz came to an end because of an ACL injury that kept him out of 43 games.

Constantly Effective

Even with the ACL injury, Ingles recovered quite well. After agreeing to a one-year contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, where he played well in a rotation, he played with the Magic for the previous campaign, giving the upstart playoff squad vital shooting off the bench. Since 2017, Ingles has advanced to the postseason in each of his healthy seasons. With his new contract with the Timberwolves, who are vying for the championship, Ingles appears ready to qualify for the playoffs for the eighth straight season.
