Henderson, Nevada – The Las Vegas Raiders announced on Tuesday that they had signed quarterback Nathan Peterman as a free agent.
Peterman, who played with the Raiders for four seasons from 2018 to 21, is back with the Silver and Black for a second spell as he begins his eighth NFL season. After playing for the Chicago Bears for the past two seasons, Peterman most recently signed with the Saints in March.
Over the course of seven seasons, Peterman has participated in 15 games with five starts, completing 85 of 160 pass attempts for 712 yards and four touchdowns. He appeared in five games with one start over his two years with Chicago, racking up 139 yards and one score on 14 of 25 passes. He spent four years with the Silver and back before signing a contract with the Raiders in December 2018. He played in two regular season games.
Peterman, a Pittsburgh native, was first chosen by Buffalo in the fifth round (171st overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft. He spent two seasons with the Bills, playing in eight regular season games, including four starts.
Peterman transferred from Tennessee to play his last two years of college at Pittsburgh. He played in 26 games for the Panthers, finishing 378 of 619 pass attempts for 5,142 yards and 47 touchdowns. With 532 points in his final season at Pittsburgh, he led the best scoring offense in the history of the school.
The Raiders waived/injured wide receiver Keelan Doss in a related transaction; should he pass waivers, Doss will return to the Reserve/Injured list.
