Apparently, a recent Detroit Pistons player is leaving the NBA.
Chimezie Metu played for the Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons in the previous season.
He shot 50.4% from the field and 29.8% from three-point range in 51 games to conclude the season with averages of 6.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
Evan Sidery said on Wednesday that Metu is moving to Spain from the NBA.
According to Sidery, “FC Barcelona has signed Chimezie Metu to an international deal.
Metu averaged 6.5 points per game while playing for the Suns and Pistons this season.
Metu, who spent six seasons in the NBA, was selected 49th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft. He has also played for the Sacramento Kings and the San Antonio Spurs.
In 260 regular-season games, he has averaged 5.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting 49.5% from the field and 29.8% from three-point range.
Additionally, he has played with the Kings in three NBA playoff games (2023).
Metu might make a comeback to the league before his career ends at the age of 27.
According to BasketNews, “6-year NBA veteran Chimezie Metu agreed to join the EuroLeague team FC Barcelona, starting from the upcoming season.”.
As for the Pistons, they finished the 2023–24 season as the 15th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 14–68 record.
They have been unable to make the NBA playoffs since the 2019 season, when Blake Griffin was still on the roster (five years ago).
