NBA Transfer News: Dallas Mavericks Point Guard Commits to Golden State Warriors Deal

Steph Curry Still Feels Like It’s Possible to Retire with the Warriors

The great point guard for the Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry, is aware that nothing is permanent in the NBA.

However, in an interview with Andscape’s Marc J. Spears, Curry restated his desire to play his entire career for the team that selected him with the seventh overall pick in 2009.

It’s difficult, don’t you think? Curry declared, “I’ve always said I want to be a Warrior for life.” “At this stage in my career, I feel like that’s possible.”

The Warriors will look different in the 2024-25 season following the departure of Curry’s longtime running mate Klay Thompson, who joined the Dallas Mavericks this offseason. Despite losing his “Splash Bro,” Curry said he believes there are ways for Golden State to remain in contention for the remainder of his career.

“And you can still be competitive, it doesn’t mean you guaranteed the championship. It doesn’t mean winning. Winning is always a priority, but obviously you’re realistic,” he said. “It doesn’t mean that it’s going to happen if you stay the course. You need to shake things up and keep reimagining what it looks like to evolve with what league is at right now, with where some of these talented teams are now.”

The Utah Jazz big man Lauri Markkanen has been repeatedly connected to the Warriors, who are still looking to acquire a significant player this offseason. Golden State will have a greater chance of making the playoffs after losing in the play-in round this past season if they get another elite player to complement Curry. If the Warriors are to fulfill their dream of having Curry play for them his entire career, they must stay in the running for the championship.

“I’ll continue to make the decisions that are best for me and for my career at the end of the day when it comes to just the imagination. I want to win,” Curry added. “Let’s put it this way, it’s a longwinded way of saying that it if it is a situation where you’re a bottom feeder and it’s just because you want to stay there, I’d have a hard time with that. But I don’t think that’s going to be the reality.”
