Journalist Graeme Bailey has revealed that negotiations are on for Newcastle United to sign Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo. The Magpies are reportedly keen to sign the French center back in order to strengthen their defense this summer.

Todibo recently had a successful season with the French club, where he was able to dominate the defensive third of the pitch a few times. The 24-year-old played in 33 games for Nice in the previous campaign, recording three assists across many leagues.
In Ligue 1, the gifted Frenchman averaged 1.9 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, and 3.1 clearances per game. He was a formidable presence when defending inside his half. In the French first division, he completed 90.1% of his passes on attempt, and he was even neat when passing the ball out from the back (data via whoscored).
