Fans are putting pressure on Indiana Fever coach Christie Sides to resign from her position after the team lost four games in a row in the WNBA 2024 season.
The Connecticut Sun defeated the Fever 88-84 despite Cassin Clark’s best efforts, and the team hasn’t won in the league all season.
Following their crushing losses to the New York Liberty over the weekend, this was the closest the Fever have gone without a win. They even dropped their first game, 92-71, against the Sun.
However, in this specific game, the fever broke down on narrow margins. There have been rumors that if Aliyah Boston hadn’t blown a late layup opportunity to tie the game, they could have forced overtime.
While many have held coach Sides accountable for a crucial tactical blunder, others have pointed the finger at Boston and Clark for failing to perform up to their customary levels during the game.
Several supporters pointed out on social media that Boston was handed the final opportunity rather than their top player, Clark. It appeared to be a mistake in judgment given how the youngster was shooting at that point in the game and ending with a team-high 17 points.
Christie Sides is under pressure from fans
After the game, one fan even demanded that Sides step down from her position because she mishandled the decision and disregarded Clark.
“You’re 2 down, with the final shot, with Caitlin Clark, the coach of the Indiana Fever, you haven’t won a WNBA game, and you call a play for Aliyah Boston? “Coach needs to go,” an irate supporter yelled.
“You gotta give Caitlin Clark the ball in crunch time,” remarked a another commenter.
