Five-star Warner Robins native joins UGA football’s recruiting class for 2025.
Gibson is the Bulldogs’ third-round pick in the 2025 recruiting class and their second defensive addition among five-star prospects.
ATHENS, Georgia — Not too long after Antwann Hill Jr., a native of Houston County, committed to Memphis, another prospect from Central Georgia decided on his institution. Warner Robins defensive end Isaiah Gibson decided to stay local and made a commitment to the University of Georgia. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound player traveled to Athens over the weekend, and shortly after, he made his pledge public.
Before he committed to the Bulldogs, he first committed to the USC Trojans on March 24. Three months later, he decommitted on Tuesday, June 18 and committed to Georgia nearly a week later.
247Sports ranks Gibson as the No. 1 edge and the sixth-best overall player in Georgia, and Gibson comes in as the No. 17 player in the entire 2025 recruiting class. He chose the Bulldogs over teams like Ohio State, Tennessee, Auburn and 34 other teams who offered him a scholarship.
Gibson is a rangy pass rusher, who uses his long arms and frame to win most battles against the opponents he faces. His 7-foot wingspan and 10-inch hands give him an advantage over most offensive linemen.
While he hasn’t had to learn many – since his athleticism and size allowed him to win most one-on-ones at the high school level – he will likely need to learn more techniques and advanced pass-rushing moves if he wants to thrive on a similar level in college.
Gibson was a force for the Demons last season. According to 247Sports, he led his team with 17 sacks and 55 quarterback pressures. These were all improvements upon the 33 tackles, 24 quarterback hits and six sacks he got as a sophomore in the Demons’ unsuccessful title run in 2022.
Gibson isn’t the only five-star defensive player that’s currently committed to the Bulldogs. He joins linebacker Zayden Walker, who committed earlier this month. He also joins tight end Elyiss Williams as the third five-star in the class.
He’s the second edge to commit, joining four-star Darren Ikinnagbon in the class.
While Gibson adds a big-time piece for the 2025 class, the Bulldogs aren’t done just yet. Fellow former USC commit Justus Terry remains a key target for the Bulldogs and who knows if they dip back into Central Georgia for another potential recruit.
Meanwhile, Gibson has a big season ahead of him. With the Demons recently moving down to the AAAA Classification, a big season from him and his team could land them in contention for a big time season.
