Good News: Just In Montreal Canadiens Sign Another Top Talented Star…

Juraj Slafkovsky will be residing in Montreal for an extended period of time. The first overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, valued at $60.8 million or $7.6 million AAV, inked an eight-year contract extension with the Canadiens.

Juraj Slafkovsky is Captured by the Habs for Eight Seasons

Slafkovsky got off to a rough start last season. But after joining Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki on the first line, the 19-year-old forward from Slovakia proved why the Canadiens selected him first overall in the 2022 draft. Slafkovsky totaled 50 points in 80 games by the end of the season, 20 goals and 30 assists. After moving to the first line, he scored at a rate that was almost equal to one point per game.

Slafkovsky has rather decent advanced statistics for a player on the Atlantic Division’s bottom squad. With a CF% of 48.9%, he was +4.7 compared to the team. On the ice, he also had a 49.01 XG%.

What’s Implied

The three players on the Habs’ top line are all under long-term contract. Lastly, of the three offers, Slafkovsky is the least expensive. Given that the line was among the finest in the league during the second part of the season, general manager Kent Hughes did a fantastic job. With their top three forwards secured, the Habs need to see sustained development from their young defensemen and add some secondary scoring to make the next step and return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
