Latest Sooners News: Oklahoma secures commitment from another top defensive back for 2025.

On Saturday, Oklahoma obtained a commitment from four-star safety Omarion Robinson, extending its 2025 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-1, 171-pound defensive back joins the Sooners 2025 recruiting class as the 21st commitment overall and the ninth defensive player overall.

Little Rock native Robinson turned on offers from LSU, his home state of Arkansas, and Oregon to attend Oklahoma. He is rated as the No. 2 player in the state of Arkansas and the No. 26 safety in the class. Oklahoma has had the gifted back-end defender on their radar since the beginning of 2025. In January 2023, OU offered him a scholarship.

Robinson was one of the Sooners’ main defensive targets, according to head coach Brent Venables and defensive backs coach Brandon Hall, and they succeeded in stopping him on Saturday. In OU’s 2025 class, Robinson is one of four safeties.

The other three are three-star safety prospect Courtland Guillory, four-star prospects Marcus Wimberly and Trynae Washington (albeit Washington is labeled as an athlete), and Washington. Wimbery hails from Arkansas as well. Trystan Haines and Maliek Hawkins, the brother of OU freshman quarterback Michael Hawkins, are the other two cornerbacks in the class. The 247 Composite rates Haines as a four-star prospect and Hawkins as a three-star recruit.

Robinson is said to be fearless when playing physical, which is an essential quality for the safety position. He also possesses the flexibility and footwork to play several areas in the back end. He was chosen as the defensive back MVP at the Rivals camp for five-star recruits because of his exceptional play. He was chosen for the second team of the MaxPreps Freshman All-America.
