After spending two seasons in Baton Rouge, LSU’s Thatcher Hurd, a right-handed pitcher, has made his way onto the transfer portal, On3 Sports announced on Tuesday.
Hurd, who started for the Tigers on opening day in 2024, is coming off a rough season in which he made 18 appearances (six starts) and finished with a 3-4 record and 6.55 ERA.
Hurd’s greatest moment as an LSU student was in the College World Series of 2023, when he pitched the winning game in the championship series versus Florida. In six innings, he allowed the Gators to score only two runs on two hits, striking out seven and walking two as the Tigers won 18–4.
Hurd started his collegiate career in 2022 and made nine appearances, six of which were starts, while going 2-0 with a 1.06 ERA at UCLA.
On3 claims that Hurd enters the portal without a contact tag.
