Alec Bohms’ heart breaks at the time of……………..

Bryson Stott Has Been the Phillies’ Reliable HeartbeatThe Phillies’ daily lineup features five seasoned hitters who have combined for 16 All-Star appearances, 8 Silver Sluggers, one batting title, and two MVPs. This season, they make a total of $118.7 million, accounting for roughly half of the team’s salary, and more than the ten lowest-spending teams have invested in their whole rosters.

However, the Phillies’ most valuable player in 2023 is not Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, J.T. Realmuto, Nick Castellanos, or Kyle Schwarber.

The 25-year-old is hitting.297/.344/.441 in his sophomore season, good for a.785 OPS and 111 wRC+. He has taken full advantage of the new rules, stealing 24 bases in 26 attempts and adjusting to his new position seamlessly, posting 8 Defensive Runs Saved and 10 Outs Above Average in his debut season at second base.

He is among the National League leaders in hits, batting average, and contact rate. His sprint speed is in the 87th percentile, while his OAA is 98th.

The remaining five are all superstars (or future superstars). The Phillies’ second baseman isn’t quite a superstar, but with 3.6 FanGraphs WAR this season, he’s among the top 20 players in the National League. Baseball Reference loves him even more; his 4.2 bWAR ranks seventh, sandwiched between Corbin Carroll and Austin Riley.

Only eight players are ahead of Stott on both leaderboards, and all eight will be nominated for MVP this fall. You’re familiar with Acuña, Betts, and Freeman. That’s a great company to keep. Furthermore, Stott has not only been good, but also consistent, which many of his colleagues lack. He started off toHe’s never taken his foot off the gas. Quite the opposite, in fact; he has shown significant progress this year, lowering his strikeout rate, raising his walk rate, and adding some serious doubles power to his profile. He’s been pursuing less and making more strong contact with time.

Bryson Stott has been among the most valuable contributors in the lineup all year, ranking second on the team in fWAR in April, third in May and June, first in July and third in August. He has yet to have a 30-game stretch with negative WAR, something that none of his veteran, All-Star teammates can say.

May was the only month he hadDespite being below league average, he had 12 RBIs, 12 runs scored, and five steals. Above all, he gets the ball into play and finds a way to contribute. It seems cliché, but this guy knows how to swing the bat.

Meanwhile, FanGraphs reports that his baserunning and defence have been above average throughout the first five months of the season. He has stolen at least three bases per month and has made only four mistakes this year. Simply told, Stott is a versatile player who consistently contributes to his team’s success. You couldn’t ask for much more than that.

Harper, Turner, Realmuto, Castellanos, and Schwarber are all capable of producing more. Not to mention Alec Bohm and Aaron Nola. But Stott? He was a rock, a metronome, and the team’s heartbeat.

Manager Rob Thomson and the Philadelphia fans can rely on Bryson Stott at home or away, against lefties or righties, and in any position in the lineup. He has completed his tasks throughout the year. The rest of the offence will need to step up if the Phillies are to make another deep postseason run, but they wouldn’t be where they are without the consistent performance of their steady, pounding heart.
