2024 F1 Pre-season Testing: Day 3 Reaction as the……….
The RacingNews365 live blog will provide coverage of the final day of F1 pre-season testing in Bahrain.
And now that the end is nigh, we confront the final day of F1 preseason testing. All teams and drivers have just three days of activity to prepare for the new season, with the next time they’ll be on track after today being the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend on February 29th and March 2nd.
There are eight hours left – excluding any red flags or broken drain covers – with Carlos Sainz being the standout driver on Day 2, becoming the first driver to break the 1:30 barrier of the test on C4 tyres.
His time of 1:29.921 was only two tenths slower than Max Verstappen’s pole performance from the 2023 race, which bodes well because Charles Leclerc also demonstrated a good turn of speed. However, Verstappen’s performance on Day 1 was diabolical, with him finishing more than one second ahead of the field. Who will finish testing fastest and go into the Bahrain Grand Prix next weekend on a high note, and who will still have work to do?
Max Verstappen beats Lando Norris to win the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and extends his F1 lead.
IMOLA, Italy (AP)— Max Verstappen is still the driver to beat, both in the real and virtual worlds.
He held off a push from McLaren’s Lando Norris to win the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on Sunday, extending his championship lead. Verstappen doubled up this weekend by competing in an online 24-hour race, driving for his team from a simulator in the Imola paddock. He also won that, making it his second F1 victory of the day.
Verstappen started on pole and maintained his lead over Norris at first, but was placed under pressure by the McLaren driver at the conclusion. He won by less than a second for his 59th career win.
