BREAKING Dak Prescott and Jerry Jones have reached an agreement contract today and now.

“It will happen,” Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott recently said of the long-planned contract extension intended on smoothing out the bloated $59.4 million cap hit in 2024 while also making the QB a “Cowboy for Life.”

But positive talk aside, there has been no positive progress. And that leads one to wonder if Jerry Jones’ front office and Prescott and agent Todd France each have their own ideas here … that in way means they might actually agree on something?

That wonder: What if Dallas is reluctant to give Prescott the monster contract of say, $60 million per year because it is maybe considering a “Blow It Up!” rebuilding year in 2025 …

While at the same time, Dak is reluctant to take any less and is therefore also eying 2025 as a start-over opportunity?

The Cowboys are managing Dak in their own business-like manner. Prescott has the right to do the same. After a 2023 season where Prescott finished as the runner-up for the league’s MVP award while throwing for 4,516 yards, 36 touchdowns, and nine interceptions? Do that again while playing out his final year in and he will become the highest-paid free agent of all-time.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones certainly is not downplaying his interest in one player he knows very well.

Jones spoke at length on Friday about a possible reunion with veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott. Jones admitted that the two sides met prior to the NFL Draft, as had been previously reported.

Jones was happy to talk up Elliott, saying he was impressed with how the running back finished last season with New England and even suggesting he could be good enough to perform as a lead back.

“Yes,” Jones said when asked if Elliott was capable of operating as a starter, via Garrett Podell of CBS Sports. “We talked about this last night too: Is Zeke someone of interest? Yeah, he is someone of interest. I saw him play his last games with New England. I thought he played well enough to be a starter.”

The Cowboys have been linked to a possible pursuit of Elliott for a while. After losing Tony Pollard to free agency, there are opportunities in the Dallas backfield, as veteran Royce Freeman is the only addition so far. Elliott could still take a lot of those carries.
