FAN REACTION: What a difference from that choking loser Dak Prescott.

The Cowboys lost veteran center Tyler Biadasz after he signed a three-year deal worth up to $30 million with the Washington Commanders in free agency. The loss means they have one center on the roster – Brock Hoffman, who has started two games during his first two seasons. The center position becomes a high priority for them and numerous mock drafts have them selecting a center in the first round.

Jackson Powers-Johnson is considered by many evaluators as the best center in the 2024 NFL draft. How much his status will help the former Oregon Ducks’ star in the draft that begins Thursday is anybody’s guess.

Center is the least valued position on the offensive line, with tackles the highest priority followed by guards. Still, teams always have a need for a good center and Powers-Johnson seems to check all the boxes. That’s why Yahoo Sports’ Charles McDonald and Nate Tice project Powers-Johnson as a first-round pick, going to the Dallas Cowboys at No. 31 following a mock trade with the San Francisco 49ers.

We are less than a week away from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announcing the #1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to the Chicago Bears.

After several mock drafts leading up to the big day, today is the day I release my final Cowboys mock draft before the main event starts this Thursday.

As always, I utilized the Pro Football Focus Mock Draft Simulator with all the settings on median level to complete this mock.
