The ATP 500 tournament organisers announced on Sunday that reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz has withdrew from the Barcelona Open due to a right arm injury. The Spaniard, ranked third in the world, will also miss this week’s Monte Carlo Masters.

In 2022 and 2023, the 20-year-old double Grand Slam winner emerged victorious. This year, he has only won once, in Indian Wells last month.

“(He) has suffered from the injury sustained in Monte Carlo, and did not have a good feeling in his training on Sunday and, despite having tried until the last moment, he will not be in the Barcelona Open,” the promoters posted on X.
