A brutal report:the tar heel defensive line may not play again…

After transferring from West Virginia, Okonkwo was initially a late addition to the UNC basketball team for the 2023–2024 campaign. The native of Maidenhead, England, is hoped to provide depth in the frontcourt as he becomes the third English-born Tar Heel in history. Nevertheless, Okonkwo was only able to play in 15 games for the UNC basketball team, averaging little under three minutes per game, and was unable to establish himself in the rotation. Okonkwo has already moved into a new residence, a little more than a week after he first used the transfer portal.

Since Hubert Davis took over as the head of the UNC basketball program following Roy Williams’ retirement in 2021, he has shown the ability to attack the transfer portal.

Former Belmont transfer Cade Tyson entered the transfer portal nearly three weeks ago back on March 25, and he has been highly sought after by a collection of high-major schools, including the Tar Heels. After UNC’s season came to a close in the Sweet 16, the Tar Heels were in quick contact with Tyson.

This offseason appears no different, with Davis and the UNC staff very active within the portal as they look to make the necessary additions to next year’s roster in Chapel Hill. Davis’ most recent transfer target seems to also be one of his earliest this cycle.

Cade Tyson, a former transfer from Belmont, registered on the transfer portal about three weeks ago on March 25. Since then, a number of highly selective colleges, including the Tar Heels, have expressed interest in recruiting him. Following UNC’s elimination from the Sweet 16 tournament, Tyson and the Tar Heels quickly got in touch.
