The Boston Celtics defeated the New York Knicks 114-98 on Monday. Together, Kristaps Porzingis, Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown scored 78 points.
Joe Mazzulla shared his opinions on Boston’s efforts against the Knicks with Inside The Celtics.
“The key is, we’re not gonna play the hardest all the time, that’s just natural. And the key is, can we find pockets? Can we start quarters well?”
The 35-year-old head coach enjoyed the physical, competitive nature of the match-up and praised his players’ successful approach.
“If you get into a fight and you don’t have any bruises, that’s called bullying. And if you get into a fight and you have bruises, that’s a real fight…I thought our guys stuck with it with the right mindset.”
The Celtics’ next game is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 15, against the Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center; tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. EST.
Ime Udoka will be out of action for the duration of the 2022–23 season, as the Celtics confirmed on Thursday night. This means assistant coach Joe Mazzulla will soon have a significant chance.
According to reports, Udoka will not step down. He is under criticism from the organisation for his involvement in a “intimate, consensual” relationship with a team staff member. In his absence, Mazzulla is anticipated to assume the role of acting head coach.
Four things regarding Mazzulla to be aware of.
