In the NBA 2K23 Summer League on Thursday afternoon at the Thomas and Mack Centre in Las Vegas, the Boston Celtics defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 108-91 thanks in large part to a dynamic scoring display from rookie second-round selection JD Davison.
Playing effectively from the start on both sides of the court, the Celtics took a 24-16 advantage at the half. The next two quarters saw Boston extend its lead over the Grizzlies by four points apiece, rendering the last quarter pointless. The Celtics increased their point totals in every quarter and ended up shooting 50.0% overall, including 36.1% from three point range.

Kennedy Chandler supplied an 11-point, 10-assist double-double that included four rebounds, one steal and one block.
The Celtics came out of the gates playing well on both ends of the floor, leading to a 24-16 lead through one. Boston then added four points apiece to its edge over the Grizzlies over the subsequent two quarters, making the final period a mere formality. The Celtics upped their point totals in each quarter and finished with 50.0% shooting, including 36.1% from behind the arc.
The Celtics’ Davison shot 9-for-14, including 4-for-6 from 3-point range, on his way to a game-high 28 points. He added 10 assists, five rebounds, three steals and one block. Juhann Begarin managed 19 points, three rebounds, two assists and three steals. Justin Jackson totaled 16 points, five assists, three rebounds and one steal. Brodric Thomas furnished 13 points, five boards, three assists and one steal. Trevion Williams generated an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double that included three assists and one steal.
