BREAKING:Boston Celtics shut down the New Orleans Pelicans 104-92 in defensive showcase

The Boston Celtics got back in the win column and avoided a three-game skid for the third time this season on this past Saturday afternoon (March 30). The Celtics beat the New Orleans Pelicans 104-92 on the road at Smoothie King Center with a strong second half performance after the Pels punched them in the mouth early in the contest. “They upped their intensity, and we didn’t match it,” said New Orleans star forward Zion Williamson after the game via the Associated Press. “When we decided to match it, the game was kind of out of hand at that point.” The hosts of the CLNS Media “How Bout Them Celtics!” podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, weighed in on the defensive-oriented victory on a recent episode. Check it out below!

Currently leading the Milwaukee Bucks by eight games in the East, the Celtics will have the remaining few weeks of the regular season to rest their star players. The top three teams in the West are separated by just a half-game in the standings, and the Sacramento Kings are eight games behind the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are leading the league.

As the Boston Celtics run away with the Eastern Conference, their playoff odds are shrinking too.

Boston is now +220 to win the NBA Finals on the heels of its demolition of Golden State on Sunday. The Celtics had a 44-point halftime lead on the way to a 140-88 win over the Warriors. The victory was Boston’s third by 50 or more points this season.

The Celtics now have an eight-game lead over the Milwaukee Bucks in the East and will be able to rest their key players over the final weeks of the regular season. In the West, the top three teams are separated by just a half-game in the standings and the Sacramento Kings are eight games back of the conference-leading Minnesota Timberwolves.
