DEAL IN FULL: Jaylen browns have signed 4 years contract to trade with the warriors $34.40millions

Derrick White has taken his game to new levels since he was traded from the San Antonio Spurs to the Boston Celtics, elevating his game from a borderline starter to a borderline All-Star. And it is on the defensive end that the Colorado native excels the most, leading the NBA in blocks by a guard and making a real case for First Team All-Defense. Even with all of this going for him, somehow, White put up the first triple-double of his career in the Celtics’ recent win over the Detroit Pistons at TD Garden, putting up 22 points, 10 rebounds, and as many assists in the win. To talk over White’s impressive night against Detroit, the host of the NBC Sports Boston “Celtics Talk” podcast Chris Forsberg linked up with Jen Rizzotti, Ashley Battle, Abby Chin, DiJonai Carrington, Zora Stephenson, and Amina Smith.

However crucial the series is, some things are just more important, including family.

On Thursday, Celtics player Derrick White flew back to Massachusetts to be present for the birth of his newborn son. White would miss Boston’s 127-102 win against the Miami Heat, but the birth of his first child no doubt made up for it.

After a road loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night, things did not get much easier for the Golden State Warriors as they welcomed the Eastern-Conference leading Boston Celtics to Chase Center for a Friday night matchup. Most people watching probably suspected that the Celtics would make quick work of the undermanned Warriors and the game would not be competitive for very long.

The key to the Warriors staying in this game was their defense. As the Warriors feature the league’s worst defense this season and they were facing one of the NBA’s premier offenses, astronomical point totals and a gaudy final score for the Celtics seemed like a certainty. But the Warriors played perhaps their best defense of the season on Friday night, holding the Celtics to 40.7% from the field and 39.4% from three-point range while also forcing the Celtics into committing 14 turnovers.
