DEAL FOR A YEAR:A former 49ERS player have got signed in to trade with the Detroit Lions…..

There was talk of the Detroit Lions looking to the floundering Las Vegas Raiders for players to bolster their squad as the trade deadline for the previous season drew near. More precisely, it was simple to fantasise about the potential cost and the possible pairing of Aidan Hutchinson and All-Pro defensive end Maxx Crosby.

There’s no doubt the Raiders won’t part with Crosby, even if they were to consider doing so (which is extremely doubtful). With three consecutive Pro Bowl nominations and four All-Pro team nods across five NFL seasons, he is clearly in his peak as he enters his 27th season.

Crosby was duly rewarded by the Raiders in 2022 with a four-year, $94 million contract. There’s also the somewhat significant matter of that, which has three years remaining on it.

Again, Crosby is not freely available until at least after the 2026 season right now. And the cost to trade for him would be hefty, if the Raiders were even open to the idea to any degree (they should not be, until further notice).

But Crosby answered a question about which team he’d want to play for if not the Raiders, which he presumably knew was coming on his own podcast, honestly. Now the dreams of Lions’ fans that he’ll someday play for the team might be re-ignited.

Once more, Crosby won’t be publicly accessible until at least after the 2026 campaign. Furthermore, if the Raiders were even somewhat amenable to the idea of trading for him—which they shouldn’t be until further notice—the price tag would be high.

But honestly, Crosby responded to a question on his own podcast about which team, outside of the Raiders, he would prefer to play for. Fans of the Lions may now have new hope for him to play for the team in the future.
