Since the 1990s, the Green Bay Packers have largely controlled the NFC North. Nonetheless, the Detroit Lions have been working to change history, winning the NFC North division title and making their first conference finals trip in thirty years in 2023. The Detroit Lions hope to begin a run of dominance in the NFC North following a productive summer. But with one of their starting cornerbacks currently eluding arrest by a Florida police department, things might get worse come next season.
Cameron Sutton is an NFL starting cornerback for the Detroit Lions. According to the Hillsborough Police Department, he has a warrant out for his arrest under the citation of domestic violence/ aggravated battery.
There are reports of the 29-year-old cornerback strangling his significant other and throwing her out of a third-story window, though these reports are not confirmed. What is confirmed is that on March 7th the Hillsborough Police Department in Florida issued a warrant for Sutton’s arrest for one count of aggravated battery-domestic violence for an incident in Lutz, Florida, a suburb in Tampa.
Because of all the evidence we discovered there, we served his warrant on the seventh,” Martello stated. Couldn’t find him in Tampa; it’s likely that he left. Right now, that’s where we are; we received a few hits on his licence plate (on licence plate readers), but we haven’t been able to locate him.
“Our detectives have tried everything to get in touch with him and that’s why we end up posting the stuff on social media. They’ve tried to get in touch with him, can’t get him on the phone, so they’ve released.
Cameron Sutton signed a three-year deal with the Detroit Lions in the 2023 offseason worth 33 million dollars. In his first season as the starting corner under the new deal, he underperformed, particularly late in the season and into the postseason. If the Detroit Lions were to cut him over the ongoing legal case, Sutton would charge their cap hit over 10 million dollars for the 2024-25 season.
In Sutton’s three games against the Green Bay Packers, he totaled just 5 total tackles and no interceptions with a 1-2 record. The idea that Sutton’s absence from the Lions would affect the Green Bay Packers game plan much is unlikely due to his negligible impact on the field in their times seeing him.
