Pittsburgh After dealing for the former first-round pick in a trade with the Chicago Bears, Justin Fields is probably the quarterback the Pittsburgh Steelers want to use for the foreseeable future. But they’re going to be paying a 10-28 quarterback a top-six contract based on his current market value.
The Steelers drafted quarterback Mason Rudolph in the third round of the 2018 draft, and he has been a part of the organization ever since.
However, Rudolph recently inked a one-year deal with the Titans, signaling the end of his tenure with the Steelers as he embarks on his seventh NFL season.
Rudolph’s time in Pittsburgh concluded on a positive note, with him starting the final three games of the regular season and securing victories in each, helping the team clinch a playoff spot.
On Wednesday, Rudolph took to social media to bid farewell to Pittsburgh and the Steelers, expressing gratitude for his time with the franchise.
“For the past 6 years, it has been a privilege to be part of the Pittsburgh community and represent the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Rudolph wrote.
What you you may not have heard is that the Indianapolis Colts reportedly made a play for the former first round pick. In fact, Benjamin Allbright has reported that the Colts made a call regarding Fields.
Ultimately the Colts elected to sign veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, to help back up and mentor Anthony Richardson.
Pittsburgh Steelers GM Omar Khan has been plenty busy acquiring free agents in the offseason. While some might view these moves as “aggressive” it’s this aggressive nature and dedication to evolving that has impressed former Steeler Ike Taylor.
Taylor speaks about how Khan is doing things in an untraditional sense, but these moves will help to elevate the Steelers to new heights. The team only has seven picks in the draft, so it was only natural to bring in quality players.
