Treylon Burks, a rookie wide receiver for the Tennessee Titans, had another successful performance in the team’s Sunday loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Burks amassed 70 receiving yards with four grabs on six targets. Burks’ eye-opening 51-yard reception in a disputed catch scenario was the high point of his day.
The Titans need to keep involving Burks in the offensive line. Burks has accumulated 11 grabs for 181 receiving yards over his last two outings. Though he is a first-year playmaker, Burks is clearly Tennessee’s most dynamic and skilled receiver. His big break is about to happen.
There isn’t a receiver on the Titans’ roster who can move up the hierarchy and high-point the ball as brilliantly as Burks did with his spectacular reception. Todd Downing, the offensive coordinator for the Titans, needs to work hard to maintain Burks’ involvement. Although Burks’ use has shown promise, there is still opportunity for expansion.
