With fourth-year forward Jaylen Brown, the Celtics have agreed to a four-year, $115 million contract extension. With the signing, Brown becomes the first Celtics player since Rajon Rondo in 2009 to accept a rookie-scale contract extension.
Jason Glushon, Brown’s agent, had spent many days negotiating the deal at the team’s training complex. Glushon was observed sitting in Danny Ainge’s office, the president of basketball operations for the Boston Celtics, on Monday afternoon when practice was open to the media.

A league source claims that Brown’s contract will include a full guarantee for $103 million, with the remaining $12 million contingent on a number of incentives.

Earlier Monday, the Kings agreed to a four-year, $94 million contract with sharpshooting guard Buddy Hield, who seemed likely to receive a deal in the same ballpark asBrown’s.
Brown will now be under contract with the Celtics through the 2023-24 season, and next year the focus will shift toward a rookie-scale extension for Jayson Tatum, who will likely command a five-year maximum-salary deal.
