Breaking: Former Dallas Cowboys Traded to San Francisco 49ers….

The San Francisco 49ers executed a trade Wednesday that will fill in the hole on the defensive line Arik Armstead used to occupy. The 49ers areĀ set to releaseĀ Armstead this offseason after the former first-round pick chose not to take a pay decrease.

 

Given that Armstead’s play has gotten worse generally over the past few seasons, the 49ers were unwilling to pay him. When Armstead recorded 10 sacks in the 2019 season, he won the lottery and received $85,500,000 over the course of five seasons. Compensation update: 49ers are selling a 7th-round pick to the Texans for Maliek Collins, per source.

The third round of the 2016 NFL Draft saw Collings drafted by the Dallas Cowboys. He joined the Texans during the 2021 campaign.
Collins recorded five sacks in the 2023 season, matching Armstead’s total. Over his eight years in the NFL, Collins has amassed 206 tackles, 25.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Collins had a rating of 62.7 from Pro Football Focus for his overall performance in 2023. Last season, he had a higher grade for pass rush (70.1) than for run defence (45.6). For his performance in the 2023 season, Armstead had an overall grade of 81.9.
