Hogan, who was attacked for using the n-word on tape, admitted to being at his lowest point and pleaded with his ardent followers to accept him back on Good Morning America.

 

The 12-time world champion begged for forgiveness, addressing both the people of America and his daughter Brooke Hogan, whose black boyfriend was the target of the 62-year-old’s bigoted outburst.

“People need to understand that you inherit things from your environment,” he argued during his interview with Amy Robach of ABC News.Additionally, the neighbourhood in which I grew up, Port Tampa, was extremely impoverished and rough. And with that word, all of my friends said hello to one another.

 

Hogan described the claim that he had inherited racial bias as “fair.”

 

“I think that’s quite reasonable,” he remarked. “I believe it’s fair to say that was a part of the culture and environment I grew upin.

Brooke Hogan in July mounted a defense of her father in the form of a poem with lines like, ‘If you knew the dad I knew, you’d know his tender heart…He’d never want to hurt his fans, or family from the start.

In July, the World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. severed all ties with their former megastar amid reports he made racial slurs in a conversation caught on a sex tape.

 

The company deleted most references to Hogan on its website and issued a statement saying it had terminated its contract with him.

‘I was completely broken and destroyed and said, ‘What’s the easiest way out of this?’ I mean, I was lost,’ he said. ‘I’ve worked for the WWE for almost 30 years off and on… and then all of a sudden, everything I’ve done my whole career and my whole life was like it never happened.’

 

Hogan is currently seeking $100million from Gawker for posting part of the sex tape of him with Heather Cole, the ex-wife of Hogan’s one-time friend and radio show host Bubba the Love Sponge Clem.

 

Gawker, which removed the sex tape video from its website under a court order, said it had the right to publish the edited video because Hogan talked in detail about his sex life before the video’s release, which made the story newsworthy.
