Christian Horner, the team principal of Red Bull’s wildly successful Formula 1 racing team, is the subject of an inquiry.

Red Bull described Horner’s investigation—he is the CEO of Oracle Red Bull Racing—as independent in a statement released on Monday. It would not explain why the inquiry was conducted.

The business started its own independent inquiry after learning of several recent claims. An outside specialised barrister is handling this process, which is now under progress, according to a statement from Red Bull. “The organisation takes these issues very seriously, and the inquiry will be finished as soon as it is viable to do so. Further comments would not be acceptable at this time.

The claims were made public following their publication in the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

International media reports state that Horner has denied any misconduct.

Requests for feedback made via social media and to a Hollywood agency that books Horner as a paid speaker went unanswered for some time. Additionally, Formula 1 did not answer a request for comment right away.

With a commanding victory in the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix on Saturday, Max Verstappen and Red Bull are on course for yet another title campaign. But neither is willing to be the first to give up on the increasingly enigmatic situation surrounding the three-time Formula One world champion’s plans after 2024.

We’ve grown to expect this dominant Red Bull team to win like we did at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit on Saturday night. Verstappen started on pole position and only momentarily dropped to second place due to an early Safety Car. He was leading by so much that he had to reduce his engine setting towards the end of the race.

It was rather ordinary, and in 2024 he will undoubtedly have many more experiences just like it.

Which begs the fascinating issue of why anyone, any fan watching, would ever abandon a team this good? And yet, since Verstappen’s true thoughts on the matter are unknown, that has been the most pressing question in Saudi Arabia for the whole week.
