SO SAD: dak prescott have just been confirmed to be d….

Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott is set to enter the final season of his current contract. It has led to widespread speculation that an extension will get done between the two sides here soon.

NFL Media’s Jane Slater reported on Wednesday that there has been no extension talks between the reigning NFL MVP runner-up and the Cowboys’ organization since the end of the 2023 season.

This is somewhat surprising in that Prescott was singing a different tune earlier in the week.

“I’m definitely confident, obviously it helps the team and it’s important for the numbers. I’ve heard Jerry say that. This is a process, both sides understand that. Everything is great. It will happen,” Prescott said.

Dak Prescott, the top quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, is about to start the last year of his current deal. It has sparked a lot of conjecture that the two parties will shortly agree to an extension.

Nothing seems to be happening on this front anytime soon, with one week until NFL free agency officially opens.

Prescott will be assessed a league-high $59.4 million in salary cap penalties in 2024. With less than a week until the legal free agent tampering period, the Cowboys are currently $4 million over said cap.

Slater suggests that a contract extension could get done later into the summer this coming August. But that’s not going to help the Cowboys’ cap situation heading into free agency. It is possible that Prescott and the Cowboys will agree to a revised contract to postpone the problem further. This would allow Dallas to make the kind of “all-in” off-season decisions that owner Jerry Jones has suggested.
