It’s anxious, Bailey said over the phone to 9NEWS on Tuesday. “Everyone tells me I look good. Man, just go with the flow. Just let it happen.
Bailey was informed about the results of the 9NEWS straw poll of Hall of Fame voters, which showed him in third place among the 15 candidates in the contemporary era. Both safety Ed Reed and tight end Tony Gonzalez, who, like Bailey, are entering their first year of Hall of Fame eligibility, are the two clear winners.
Despite having a 15-year career and 12 Pro Bowl berths (the most by a cornerback and three more than Reed), Bailey is seen as a step below Gonzalez and Reed for the class of 2019.
“I feel the same way when I look at this thing objectively,” Bailey remarked. No safety has ever been as effective as Ed Reed. and a winner of the Super Bowl as well.
“Tight end, Gonzalez is the most productive tight end in history. I’m not wearing a ring. As of right now, I don’t believe any corner has been as reliable as mine. However, if you look at the other first-ballot corners, Darrell Green and Deion Sanders, they have more than one ring, according to Bailey. “Their team has achieved far greater success than mine. I have achieved a great deal of personal achievement, which is ultimately how this should be evaluated. Success as a team, though, is undoubtedly beneficial.
Similar to Ty Law, the former cornerback for New England
As with former New England CB Ty Law, who is arguably the main reason Champ has to worry about the process. Although Law had three Super Bowl rings at the beginning of the Patriots’ run, Bailey might have been the superior player. Maybe they’ll both get elected.
Bailey lives within the city boundaries of Atlant, close to the gathering place for this year’s HOF finalists and already inducted Hall of Famers, but he will book a hotel in the downtown area as though he is travelling from out of town. In addition to former Broncos safeties Steve Atwater and John Lynch, the family of team owner Pat Bowlen is a finalist for the Hall of Fame.
