The Boston Celtics defeated the New York Knicks 116-102 on Saturday night inside Madison Square Garden with ease. The C’s dominated New York in the third quarter, outscoring the Knicks 35-26, to take a 62-58 lead into halftime.
For the most part of the game, Boston’s offence appeared effortless as they shot 70% of the field through three quarters.
With this victory, the Celtics improved to 19-9 away from home for the season—their eighth straight overall and eighth straight road game defeat.
Setting the tone and never letting up, Jaylen Brown finished with a team-high 30 points and 8 rebounds. Every time Divincenzo, Brunson, or Alec Burks try to match up with JB one-on-one, he will feast; Boston took advantage of the Knicks all night long.
Six players, including Kristaps Porzingis (22 points, 7-11 FG) and Jayson Tatum (19 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists), scored in double figures for the Celtics.
With one game remaining in the season against the Celtics, Jalen Brunson (34 points, 9 assists) played a really good game for New York, but it wasn’t quite enough as the Knicks fell to 0-4 overall.
Naturally, the Knicks are without OG Anunoby and Julius Randle for the time being, but I’m not sure what kind of defence New York could bring to the table against this Boston team in a potential playoff meeting.
With 25 games remaining, your Boston Celtics (2023–24) are currently 8 games ahead of the Cavaliers for the top spot in the East, with a record of 45–12.
With the magic number presently at 18 to secure the top seed in the East, this is Boston’s largest advantage in the league thus far this season.
I don’t think any other team in the league has the firepower to push this club in a seven-game series, no matter what happens the rest of the season, provided this squad stays healthy.
Let’s maintain our momentum and add more victories in the final stretch.
Boston will host Philadelphia on Tuesday night for the Celtics’ next game. Go, Celtics!
