DONE DEAL: the snookers have done the unexpected again….

At the Players Championship, during John Higgins’ quarterfinal matchup with Zhang Anda, play was halted due to a medical emergency in the audience. While medical personnel responded to the scene inside the Telford International Centre, the celebrities and fans were removed from the table.

A few minutes into the match, there was a disturbance in the stands that drew the referee’s attention. Higgins was leading 12–5 in the first frame.

After the two players were spotted leaving the stage, ITV quickly announced that there had been a medical emergency that had caused the interruption in the show.

After that, spectators moved aside to make room for the medical staff that was present at the competition, but they came back after fifteen minutes when Higgins and Zhang started using the practice tables.

In an explanation shared on social media, the World Snooker Tour (WST) wrote, “Spectators and both players have left the arena after someone in the crowd has been taken ill.”

Since then, the broadcaster has reported that the worried party departed the scene after receiving medical assistance. After a 22-minute break, play resumed at 1.45 pm with Higgins and Zhang back at the table.

Mark Selby shared the moniker the Rocket gave him while on tour and said he is delighted to play Ronnie O’Sullivan in the Players Championship quarterfinal. The two have hardly seen each other recently and have just played together once this season in Shanghai.

Their last meeting since 2021 occurred during that Shanghai Masters match, but Selby’s thrilling 6-3 victory over Barry Hawkins set up a thrilling matchup with O’Sullivan. Although the Rocket has won his past 15 games and the three events he has participated in, Selby is excited about the possibility of unseating the biggest player in the sport.

When Selby initially gained notoriety as a professional snooker player, O’Sullivan was well-known and bestowed upon him a moniker that has stuck with the four-time world champion.

“The One Who Tortures!” Selby stated to ITV. Yes, we have participated in significant championship games. I’m definitely looking forward to it since I’ve beaten him in some of them and he’s given me a nice hiding in many of them.
