Is Sauce Gardner unaware that Joe Douglas and QB Aaron Rodgers are the only two general managers the New York Jets can have?
He lashed out at WFAN’s Gregg Giannotti on Thursday, saying that the Jets are not benefiting from any of his personnel suggestions that he has made in recent days on X.
Giannotti remarked, via Audacy, “I’m not so naïve or so much of a stickler or old man to say this isn’t fun at all.” It doesn’t really matter that he is having fun, I get that. However, if I were Joe Douglas, I would say, “Just shut up, man!” On the team, you can’t be telling everyone what you want!
Mike Evans, who went by the nickname “LeSauce” during his recruiting exploits, and Calvin Ridley are two wide receivers that Gardner would like to sign this offseason. “I can’t go wrong with either one of them,” Gardner wrote on Wednesday night, seemingly doubling down on his desire to work with Evans after tweeting on February 19 that “you know what we talked about.”
After wide receivers Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb, offensive tackle Billy Turner, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers signed with eight former Green Bay Packers teammates, including Douglas, who achieved a 7-10 record despite the quarterback’s injury four snaps into his tenure, Jets supporters might be hesitant to follow a celebrity’s lead.
Wide receiver Tee Higgins isn’t likely to be available, according to Gardner, who may be implying that Higgins will re-sign with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Gardner answered a fan’s question about what the team should pick in the draft early on Thursday morning.
Simple for Gardner, who went one better: “I want to draft young at O-Line and get a vet WR,” probably alluding to his desire for Evans or Ridley once more.
