In the NFL, this is “hot take” season. Every year as the offseason rolls around, there are endless takes from every media source you can imagine. All of us want to talk about football and the potential and capabilities of our favourite teams. Like in the case of Nick Chubb and the Cleveland Browns, those takes can have a life of their own.

A lot of people have searched for the simple solution because Cleveland appears to be having cap issues: remove the expensive running back who recently suffered a knee injury in 2023. Although the Browns would save almost $12 million by doing this, we’ve all seen how awful the running game was without Chubb. It doesn’t make sense to merely release him because of this, except

Jimmy Haslam has no problem signing large cheques for bonuses that are subsequently disbursed over a number of years, sometimes even longer after the player departs. Some claim the bill will eventually become due, but will it really? Is there a time limit on how long they may continue doing this? It’s possible that we’ll find out in the future, but for the time being it’s reasonable to believe that No. 24 will return because this squad doesn’t want to bench talented players in order to save money.

While we may find out later, it seems logical to assume that No. 24 will return for the time being because this team doesn’t want to bench talented players in order to save money.

Next week, the NFL combine will begin with a tonne of material and interviews with coaches and general managers on Tuesday and Wednesday. Before the combine starts every year, we get to hear from the top NFL draft expert on NFL Network answering questions from the media.
