SAD NEWS: BCFC the project are in serious tears today due to …….

After receiving his ninth yellow card of the league season during Birmingham City’s victory over Sunderland, Krystian Bielik faces the possibility of suspension.

The St Andrew’s game saw the Poland international Bielik booked in the second half as the Blues overcame a 2-1 deficit to win. Blues earned three points as Jordan James and Koji Miyoshi offset Jack Clarke’s opening goal for Sunderland.

In order to avoid serving a two-game ban, Bielik needs to stay out of the book in the Blues’ next five games. The 37th Championship game of the season marks the start of the second yellow card amnesty, which eliminates player bans for receiving ten yellow cards.

Due to five yellow cards, Bielik was unable to participate in the Blues’ November loss at Sunderland. He received thirteen bookings in the Championship the previous season.

Speaking of Jordan James, the highly-regarded Wales international for the Blues was undoubtedly a draw for scouts, who included Dougie Freedman, the sporting director of Crystal Palace, for the Sunderland match. The former manager of Nottingham Forest, Palace, and Bolton was at St Andrew’s scouting the talent.

James and Palace were connected during the January transfer window, however Adam Wharton, a 19-year-old Championship midfielder, was eventually acquired by Palace.

Speaking earlier this month, Mowbray said: “I was laughing with him yesterday actually, ‘How do you compare yourself to Adam Wharton, son? Eighteen and a half going up to 22 (million pounds) and what are we talking about?’ Teams aren’t getting to the numbers that we would bracket him in.” Blues fielded derisory offers from Serie A side Atalanta in January. James, who has already netted seven goals this term, should be worth much more come the summer.

After a torrid start to his Blues career with injury, Tyler Roberts has really made an impression in his consecutive starts. Roberts – who hadn’t started a game since August prior to last week – was decisive in both of Blues’ wins over Blackburn and Sunderland. He showed touches of quality against Sunderland and played a key role in James’ equaliser in front of the Tilton. If Blues can keep him fit, they have a very good player on their hands at this level.
