The Bears have the most important and significant decision to make this summer.
All eyes are on Chicago since they are the team with the most desirable trade target and the owners of the first overall pick.
As explained on NFL.com on Saturday, the Bears would need to make a historic trade to move the top pick. That suggests Justin Fields would be dealt to create space for the team that selects the first selection, most likely Caleb Williams of USC, who is a special prospect.
Fields showed his potential late in the season and the Bears should be able to acquire a premium pick for him if everything goes according to plan. The nature of his leadership in the
Sam Howell had the numbers to prove that he was a franchise quarterback at one point during the previous campaign. It would be surprising if that were still the case, though, given the addition of Adam Peters as general manager and Dan Quinn as head coach, along with the No. 2 overall selection.
Determining how to handle the No. 2 pick is one of Peters’ biggest decisions over the next few years. Given that offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury would link up with Williams once more, many teams see the Peters’ Commanders as a potential trade-up squad to No. 1.
