FEB. 17 DRIESELL LEFTY GOES AWAY Lefty Driesell, the former men’s basketball coach for the Maryland Terrapins, passed away, his family reported on Saturday. He was ninety-two.

It was stated that Maryland will observe a moment of silence in honour of Driesell prior to their Saturday game against No. 14 Illinois. Additionally, they will don throwback 1970s uniforms like they wore on January 21 when the Terrapins honoured Driesell.

From 1969 until 1986, Driesell led Maryland as its coach, bringing the Terrapins to national prominence until All-American Len Bias

FEB. 8 FLACCO GETS CPoY Joe Flacco, a former quarterback for the Ravens, won Comeback Player of the Year on Thursday night at the NFL Honours.

After Deshaun Watson, the starting quarterback, suffered a season-ending injury in late November, Flacco was added to the Browns practice squad. He was then selected to start against the Rams in Week 13 following Dorian Thompson-Robinson’s concussion.

In his first postseason game since 2015, Flacco completed 34 of 46 passes for 307 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

The Commanders have asked defensive assistant Anthony Weaver of the Baltimore Ravens for an interview, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

After playing four seasons in Baltimore, Weaver, 43, was selected by the Ravens in the second round of the 2002 draft. He has worked with John Harbaugh for three seasons, coming back to the team in 2021 to coach the defensive line. He was elevated to assistant head coach in 2022.
