The Miami Dolphins welcomed thes Buffalo Bill into Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday night and were defeated 21-14.
Mike McDaniel’s team didn’t play their best on either side of the ball. They may have taken the ball away from Josh Allen and company three times, but they didn’t make key stops on plays that they should have. Miami’s offense also went silent in the second half, as they punted four times (one of which was returned for a score) and threw an interception to end the game.
Throughout the contest, Dolphins fans on social media were not happy with their team’s performance. Here’s what they had to say:
There’s still one month until the 2024 league year officially starts, so until then, there’s plenty of time to think back on the previous year and get ready for the next. The 2023 NFL season has come to an end.
All 32 teams will go to Detroit, Michigan in less than two months to participate in the 2024 NFL draft. There, they will have the chance to bolster their rosters with some exceptional young players, hopefully enhancing their team’s performance for years to come.
We have chosen to use the Pro Football Focus mock draft simulator for our initial seven-round mock draft, even though there are still a lot of things that could go wrong before then. This is the final roster that the Dolphins had.
Robert Hunt, Connor Williams, and Isaiah Wynn are the three interior offensive lineman for Miami that will be available for free agency. Powers-Johnson is one of the greatest choices if they don’t locate their replacements before the draft or re-sign them.
The nation’s top centre, the Rimington Trophy, went to him in 2023. Pro Football Focus reports that in 758 pass-blocking opportunities at left guard, centre, right guard, and right tackle, he gave up only four pressures and zero sacks.
Every time the Dolphins sign a player that played college ball at Hurricane Stadium, it’s exciting. Jaelan Phillips, who played his last collegiate season with Miami before the Dolphins selected him in the first round of the 2021 draft, is the most recent to see success.
Kinchens was All-ACC the previous two seasons and an All-American in 2022.
The Miami Dolphins saw 16 tackles (five for a loss), 15 passes defensed, 11 interceptions, two forced fumbles, two recovered fumbles, and one sack in 33 games from 2021–2023.
The Dolphins may turn to a youngster to step in as a starter in 2024 as DeShon Elliott and Brandon Jones will both be available.
The Dolphins will only have Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Erik Ezukanma (NFI), Braylon Sanders, Anthony Schwartz, and Matthew Sexton on the roster when Cedrick Wilson Jr., Braxton Berrios, Chase Claypool, Robbie Chosen, and River Cracraft become free agents in March. Not exactly the deepest chamber, that one.
After the amazing beginning tandem, Williams, 23, could enter the game and provide Tagovailoa with additional weaponry.
Over the previous five years, the 5-foot-10 wide receiver for the Fighting Illini participated in 47 games and had 214 receptions for 2,304 yards and 14 touchdowns in addition to 509 rushing yards and three scores on 4.9 yards per carry.
Williams may have a role on special teams as well. During the previous two seasons, he assisted somewhat as a punt returner.
Throughout his four years in college, Bell played for Florida State (2023) and South Carolina (2020–22). In 43 games, he caught 95 passes for 1,260 yards and nine touchdowns, as well as 303 yards and four scores on 3.6 yards per rush.
He’s not the best blocker right now, but that could change in the future.
Durham Smythe was the lone tight end to have any major effect for the Dolphins in 2023, and even then, not much came of it. It wouldn’t be shocking to see them search for another tight end again because they selected Elijah Higgins in the sixth round of last year, but the Arizona Cardinals claimed him during roster cuts.
Murphy played for the Tar Heels in 47 games between 2020 and 2023, tallying 99 tackles (17 for a loss), seven sacks, four interceptions, and one recovery of a fumble.
Of the top four interior defensive lineman for the Dolphins, Christian Wilkins, Raekwon Davis, and Da’Shawn Hand could all leave via free agency, leaving just Zach Sieler and Brandon Pili (reserve/future). Murphy might be a rotational player, however it probably wouldn’t be ideal to have him start the game out of the gate.
Imagine the fun that would ensue if both Tagovailoas were in Miami.
The younger Tagovailoa began his college career in 2019 with Alabama, but he moved the next year and played for the Terrapins for four years.
He has completed 67.1% of his throws for 11,356 yards with 77 touchdowns and 37 interceptions in 46 collegiate games. He has also earned two selections to the Big Ten Second Team. During his time at Maryland, he set Big Ten records with 11,256 yards and 67.1% completion percentage.
In 2024, Mike White will undoubtedly be the backup and the elder Tagovailoa will start, but there may be competition for the third place. The incumbent, Skylar Thompson, didn’t play at all in the previous season and didn’t do well when he did play.
as a rookie, which was in line with his status as a seventh-round selection.
