During the 2024 offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers might be among the NFL’s most intriguing clubs to watch.
It appears that until they formally reveal their 2024 starting, the doubts regarding what lies ahead for the team at quarterback will remain unavoidable.
The team has other positions to address in the off-season than that one.
They should prioritise improving those areas above finding a new quarterback since they have significant needs on both sides of the ball.
It appears that they may choose to address an unexpected stance in the first round of the selection, at the very least.
Chad Reuter of NFL.com believes that the Steelers will choose Kentucky linebacker Trevin Wallace with the 20th pick in the draft.
Although other athletes in collegiate sports are choosing to prolong their undergraduate careers, Wallace quickly made a name for himself as an NFL prospect.
As a rookie, he participated in 11 games and helped lead a defence that placed 26th overall in points allowed at the end of the 2021 campaign, earning him a spot on the All-SEC rookie Team.
Wallace recorded 54 tackles as a sophomore for the Wildcats, including 5.5 for a loss. He also added 2.5 sacks and two interceptions.
Wallace produced even more impressively in his junior year. In 2023, he completed 80 tackles in all, including 8.5 for a loss. In addition, he had a forced fumble, an interception, and 5.5 sacks.
His skills weren’t sufficient to make him an all-conference selection in a competitive
Wallace might be a suitable addition to the Steelers.
Wallace is one of the best prospects at middle linebacker, a position the Steelers need to address after some serious depth problems there in 2023.
He shouldn’t, however, be the Steelers’ first choice.
Wallace wouldn’t be the best inside linebacker available at this pick in this mock draft. Edgerrin Cooper has that distinction.
They would most likely need to take Cooper in the first round if they wanted him. Wallace ought to be available for selection when they select a second player. In the third round, he might even be present.
The other problem is that they have needs at premium positions, so it would be difficult for them to justify using their first-round pick on a linebacker.
