This summer, the Detroit Lions were able to retain the majority of their coaching staff. The fact that all three coordinators will be back is most crucial, as defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson both had interviews for head coaching positions.
Nevertheless, there will be some changes within the remaining coaching staff, as there usually are. The fact that Detroit hasn’t released their finalised list of 2024 coaches suggests that there may be some surprise title changes or additions. However, based on reports, below is a list of recent changes that we are aware of:
The Lions have signed Terrell Williams, a former Titans coach, as their defensive coordinator and run game coach.

I think Terrell Williams was a great hire. Williams served as the defensive line coach for the Titans for six years, and both the media and fans praised his work. Beyond that, Williams’ leadership abilities won Mike Vrabel’s trust to the point where he led the team in one preseason game the previous year and the Senior Bowl this year. Not to add, having that extra information from the Senior Bowl would be useful for Detroit’s 2024 NFL Draft.

The Lions had four running backs and a fullback on their active roster when the season began, but they had to make adjustments due to injuries to Jason Cabinda and Zonovan Knight. For special teams purposes, they gave a few additional RB4s a shot, but none of them worked out, and the Lions finished the season with just three running backs on the roster.
